A scenic western maryland brewery built for beer, music, camping & mountain views

Premium craft beer brewed to stand out in every glass.

The Cornwells, both artists, leveraged their combined talents (Tony is a home improvement contractor, and Denise, an accountant by trade) in the construction of the brewery on their 26-acre farmstead situated less than a mile off I-68 at Exit 68, West of Sideling Hill, about halfway between Cumberland and Hagerstown. Design and built from the ground up, it incorporates repurposed and upcycled materials, both in the fabric of the structure and the artwork created by the Cornwells and other local artists.

The brewery proudly derives its name from the sturdy Black Locust posts, which are specifically utilized as anchor poles for the hop bines that flourish in the fields adjacent to the brewing facility and tasting room. This connection to the land and the cultivation of hops is an integral part of our identity and brewing process. The brewery produces a wide variety of beer, designed by owner, Tony Cornwell.

Their lineup consists of solid traditional European ales and lagers, spanning from light to dark, interspersed with American style IPA’s and seasonal offerings sometimes incorporating flavor elements from the farm. Family friendly, dog friendly, and lots of fun!
